Pneumonia

People who are more prone to developing pneumonia are smokers, people with underlying lung conditions such as asthma, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, people with diabetes, heart failure and weak immune system. Dr. Chaudhari at I and My Doctors Clinic can diagnose pneumonia by your symptoms, listening to your lungs and/or ordering chest X ray, sputum culture or blood work. Un-complicated pneumonia can be treated with oral antibiotics. Sometimes you might need to be hospitalized for IV antibiotics if you have severe pneumonia, your oxygen level drops or have trouble breathing. Dr. Chaudhari will decide based on your condition if you can be treated as an outpatient or need hospitalization.

Vaccines are available to prevent certain types of pneumonia. Speak with Dr. Chaudhari at I and My Doctors Clinic today about available pneumonia vaccines.
